Foreign Min says Russia, Venezuela agree on econ coop amid sanctions
CARACAS, Feb 10 (PRIME) – Moscow and Caracas have agreed to extend economic partnership under U.S. sanctions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on February 7 after a visit to Venezuela.
“We have agreed on our activities to deepen international coordination, agreed to extend trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian cooperation in conditions of illegal sanctions,” Lavrov said.
He said that Russia and Venezuela will develop military and energy partnership. “Coordinated activities in such spheres as energy, natural resources, various branches of industry, agriculture and transport are particularly promising …And of course, we will develop military and technical partnership to ensure the defense potential of our friends, in particular before the external threats,” he said.
Lavrov also said that a meeting of a Russia–Venezuela intergovernmental commission will be held in May.
